Entry Requirements for University of KwaZulu-Natal Undergraduate Courses:

In order to be eligible for admission to study undergraduate courses, applicants need to meet minimum entry requirements for admission into UKZN. See the general admission entry requirements below.

  • NSC Deg with Engl, LO and Maths.
  • Certified copy of your ID/passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
  • Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South Africa universities, if you are an international applicant. For more information, refer to the undergraduate prospectus.
  • An applicant who has studied at any other tertiary institution must, in addition, present certified copies of degree certificates, full academic record, proof of financial clearance and a certificate of conduct from that institution.
  • Proof of English proficiency for international applicants from non-English speaking countries.

Fees for Studying University of KwaZulu-Natal Undergraduate Courses:

The UKZN tuition fees for undergraduate courses at are determined annually and may vary depending on factors such as the program of study and the student’s residency status (South African or international).

How to Apply to Study UKZN Undergraduate Courses:

Check the application opening date and the deadline: UKZN Application is opens once in the year. The closing date for undergraduate study application at UKZN is 30 September, however, the closing date for medical courses is 30 June.

Payment of Late Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of R420.00 is required when submitting the online application.

Online Application: Prospective students can apply online through the UKZN website. The online application portal is opened from 1st April to 30 September. Applicants are required to complete the application form and upload all the required documents online. To start your UKZN Undergraduate courses application, applicants can click here to access the portal.

Filling Submission of Application Form: Fill in the Form and attach certified copies of the required documents (All certified copies should not be older than 3 months) as well as proof of payment of an application fee. An application form, proof of payment as well as supporting documents must be saved as pdf and sent as one attachment. After you have successfully filled the application form, applicants are required to send it to the email address, enquiries@ukzn.ac.za.
